Getting started – my yoga story
I started practicing yoga over 18 years ago, when I was pregnant with my first son.
But, I wasn’t consistent.
I would do heaps of classes then branch off, get distracted and do others things related to fitness, and not go to a yoga class for months.
Although whether practicing or not practicing, that feeling I had when I left a yoga class always stayed with me. That sense of openness, connection and ultimately peace, it was there long after I walked out of the class.
Do you feel the same?
My personal journey with yoga led me to attain a teacher qualification. The training was one of the most challenging things I have ever done.
It tested me mentally, and physically.
I went very deep into my emotionally wellbeing and that was the biggest test. I was in a very unhappy relationship at the time.
That painful breakup was what inspired and pushed me to get started.
I was searching for strength for answers as to why I was in this place.
I always saw myself as a good person, a nice person – and I questioned why the universe was giving me these challenges that I felt I never had the strength to overcome.
It was never my intention to become a yoga teacher. The training gave me the tools and mostly the strength to gain back my power and take myself away from the unhappy situation I had found myself in. They say that you don’t find yoga, yoga finds you…
